Let's take a look at our current faves:

I Live in a Van Gogh

In 1993, comedian Chris Farley introduced us to his hilarious motivational speaker character Matt Foley on Saturday Night Live.

In the skit, which written by Bob Odenkirk, by the way, Foley was invited by suburban mom and dad (played by Julia Sweeney and Phil Hartman) after they found a bag of pot in the house. They wanted Foley to talk to their teenagers (played by David Spade and Christina Applegate) and motivate (or perhaps, de-motivate) them into being better.

Farley proceeded to introduce his character by saying, "My name is Matt Foley and I am a motivational speaker. Now let's get started by letting me give you a bit of a scenario of what my life is all about. First off, I am 35 years old. I am divorced, and I live in a van down by the river."

Inspired by the skit, indie artist kg07 drew Foley living in his van down by the river in the style of Vincent van Gogh's iconic The Starry Night. The art features Farley dressed in a yellow shirt, pale blue jacket, and green tie posing in front of his gray van filled with trash. A beer can litters the ground and a folding chair is seen to the left. Swirl of cloud and the night's stars are seen on top.

At the bottom, there is the text: "I Live in a Van Gogh Down by The River."

Speak & Spells

Remember the classic 80s educational toy Speak & Spell? It's supposed to help children learn to spell words.

Indie artist Harebrained Design was inspired to create something similar to help us learn witchcraft: Speak & Spells (get it? Magic spells? Hah!)

Here, a Speak & Spell console wearing a druid cloak is casting a spell near a witch's cauldron on top of burning logs with eerily green fire. Two tendrils of green vapors in the shape of human skulls are seen emanating from the cauldron. A cloudy night's sky with a full Moon is seen in the background.

A retro 80s style yellow and orange borders encapsulate the design, with the word "Speak & Spells" on top.

The Necronomicon Book Club

Forget boring rom-com books for your next book club's read! Try something a bit more ... unusual. How about the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis from The Evil Dead trilogy?

In the 1981 film The Evil Dead, the Necronomicon is a supernatural "Book of the Dead" bound in human flesh. It is filled with prophecies and incantations to resurrect the demon.

In this fan art, indie artist jorgetiradoart draws the Necronomicon with burning eyes and sharp teeth standing on its edge atop a pentagram circle. Next to it is the Kandarian Dagger, in the spine/bone-like blade form as seen in Evil Dead 2 comics.

The art is styled as a book advertisement, with the text "Naturom Demonto" (featured in the 2013 Evil Dead film) for $5.99 and the enticement "Free Kandarian Dagger with Every Order."

Frog Fiction

How do you make the eminently quotable 1994 film Pulp Fiction by Quentin Tarantino better? By crossing it with The Muppets, of course.

Here, artist Turborat substituted Kermit the Frog for Mia Wallace lying on the bed, smoking. A big bold title "Frog Fiction" is shown above our green friend.

No Pineapple

Don't love pineapple in your pizza? Dodge it in slow-mo "bullet time" just like Neo in the 1999 sci-fi masterpiece The Matrix!

Artist Zascanauta draws a slice of pepperoni pizza wearing dark sunglasses bending backward to dodge bullets of pineapple rings whizzing past.

Burger Boys

What's better than the 2005 greatest hits compilation album Solid Gold Hits by Beastie Boys? How about a mash up with fan favorite animated sitcom Bob's Burgers?

Here, artist seamustheskunk draws Bob Belcher, his son Gene Belcher, and his best friend Teddy posing as the band members standing and sitting next to a boombox. A stylized "Burger boys" logo is seen in the background.

Epic Fight!

'Tis but a scratch, and 'tis is definitely one of the funniest movie scenes in film history.

Indie artist kg07 draws King Arthur fighting the Black Knight from Monty Python's 1975 classic Monty Python and the Holy Grail in the style of the fighting game Street Fighter II.

King Arthur is seen on the left, holding his sword. The Black Knight with his arms cut off stands to the right, bleeding all over the ground but still trying to kick. In the upper left-hand corner, we see a five ounce bird carry a one pound coconut (it's a simple question of weight ratios!). Health bar on top shows that the Black Knight's obviously deteriorating health despite his protestations that he's had worse.
